 FAQ

“How do I know if my issue need coaching or therapy?” You don’t. You don’t need to. That is my job. I’m certified in life-coaching and I’m certified in IFS (“Internal Family System”, an evidence based model of psychotherapy). By the way: for me you’re a client, not a patient. I’m not pathologizing any part of you. I believe you have all the inner resources you need.

“What is the main benefit of working with you?” Becoming the truest version of yourself. A life according to your own deepest truths. Or put differently: feeling whole. Or as a client put it: “it feels like coming home”.

“Are you a psychologist?” No. The healing agent in traditional psychotherapy is external: the psychotherapist, the chosen therapy or a specific treatment. In contrast, the healing agent using IFS lies within: you. Psychology often tends to pathologize and focus on what is wrong with you. However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your authentic Self. Your authentic Self does not say “I can’t do it” or “I am not good enough”. Your authentic Self does not need to, for example, learn about stress-management or read self-help books. Or talk to a psychologist.

“Why should I work with you?” There are plenty of great coaches out there. And there are plenty of great therapists out there. However, few offer both therapy and coaching. Healing and growing. A part of you may need therapy. Another part may need coaching. Both go hand in hand. Perhaps most important: I’m committed to do the deep work, heal the pain.

“What kind of advice do you tend to give?” Few people change their thinking, behaviour or their life based on advice.  I therefore do not provide any advice. Coming to your own in-sight has the power to transform. Advice doesn’t. You will not start exercising, quit a relationship, or stop smoking (for example) based on advice; or facts.

“What is the point of dealing with the past? After all, you can’t change what happened in the past.” Indeed, you can’t change the past. What can be changed is the emotional charge past experiences hold over you. Whenever you get triggered, a painful (or even traumatic) experience from the past makes itself heard. IFS therapy helps to heal the part of you which holds that pain (from the past) so it is no longer triggered (in the present). You can’t change the past. But you can change how you experience it and then leave it behind.

Sessions are available globally via zoom in English or German.
