Does your authentic Self need a coach? No.

Does your ego think you need therapy? No.

But how come you feel stuck in the wrong job or relationship? How come that people-pleasing or perfectionism drains your energy? How do you explain whatever binge-behaviour you may exhibit? And then the shame afterwards? How come you forgot what it feels like to be truly you?

A part of you may have considered asking for help. Another part wonders if that is necessary, after all you consider yourself fully functional. Another part of you dislikes the idea of having to go to ‘therapy’ while another part wonders if coaching goes deep enough.

Therapy will unearth material which calls for coaching. And coaching will bring up material which requires therapy. Coaching and therapy therefore go hand in hand. If therapy is the tunnel you need to go through in order to heal, coaching is the light at the end of it which pulls you through.

Coaching is an outcome-focused quest that will help you grow towards a fulfilled life. What holds you back from that fulfillment however often requires therapy. At times you need therapy before you can work effectively with a coach. It makes no sense to put pressure on yourself to grow when you're still needing to heal.

My approach is not about healing or growing. It is about healing and growing. Personal growth requires a healthy psyche. And a healthy psyche means accepting, embracing and healing all parts of you in order to grow the trust in your authentic Self. Your authentic Self has all the answers you need. Your authentic Self does not need coaching, or therapy.

And your ego is just another part of you.

embodhi You don’t need healing. A part of you does.
